IBDP Physics Tutor in Sharjah: Frequently Asked Questions by Students and Parents

Sharjah has become one of the UAE's leading centres for international education, with an increasing number of students enrolling in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Among the six subject groups of IB, Physics is considered one of the most challenging subjects. It requires students to combine conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, practical investigation, and analytical thinking. Whether studying Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL), students often benefit from expert guidance to master the syllabus and perform confidently in examinations.

To answer some of the frequently asked questions about IB Physics, we spoke with Dr Anil Khare from Amourion Training Institute, who has assisted many IB students achieve outstanding results.

My child studies regularly but still finds Physics difficult. Why does this happen?

Dr Anil Khare: Physics is different in that it is not a subject where one can just memorise. A student can read and memorize notes for hours and still not know what to do if they encounter a different situation. The examination is based on testing reasoning, interpretation and problem-solving and not recall. The emphasis should always be on understanding the meaning of the equations, rather than just memorizing them.

Are formulas enough to score well in IB Physics?

Dr Anil Khare: Not at all. Students think that they will be successful if they know the formulas, but the examiners require more than just formulas. Students need to know when to use each equation, what the assumptions are behind it, and how different concepts relate to each other. Strong Physics students recognise patterns within problems rather than searching for a formula that appears to fit.

How can students become better at solving complex Physics problems?

Dr Anil Khare: Problem solving is a skill that is developed by doing and reflecting. Students are encouraged to break each question into smaller parts, identify the relevant Physics principles, draw diagrams as needed and explain their reasoning before calculating an answer. This approach is structured and it enhances accuracy and confidence.

Many students lose marks in Paper 2. What is the reason?

Dr Anil Khare: Paper 2 involves extended answers and several stages of calculations. Students tend to lose marks due to skipping some working, not explaining their answers, or not considering the units and significant figures. Students are taught to clearly communicate their scientific thinking, and therefore, receive method marks even if the final answer is not correct.

How important is experimental thinking in the IB Diploma?

Dr Anil Khare: Experimental thinking is important. Students of the IB curriculum are expected to have an understanding of variables, uncertainties, reliability, precision and data interpretation. In our IBDP Physics IA support in Sharjah, students learn to design meaningful investigations, evaluate their methods critically, and present scientific evidence according to IB assessment criteria while maintaining academic integrity.

What is the most effective revision strategy for IB Physics?

Dr Anil Khare: Revising is not a passive process. Students should solve difficult questions, review challenging topics repeatedly, review examiner reports and common mistakes, rather than constantly reading notes. Our IBDP Physics exam preparation in Sharjah emphasizes focused revision strategies that reinforce concepts and enhance exam performance under timed conditions.

Why do families choose Amourion for IB Physics?

Dr Anil Khare: Each student is different and has unique strengths and weaknesses. Here at Amourion we tailor each lesson to the learner's needs. Whether students require an IBDP Physics HL tutor in Sharjah, IB Physics SL tuition in Sharjah, support with Internal Assessments, or intensive examination preparation, our teaching will be based on clear concepts and exam strategies. We aim to build independent learners who approach Physics with confidence rather than anxiety.
