Dr Anil Khare: This is a question encounter frequently & the answer is never automatic. Analysis & Approaches SL is a genuinely challenging course & a student who is struggling in the first term of Year 12 is not necessarily doing the wrong subject as they may simply not yet have received the correct support. Before recommending a change, we carry out a diagnostic test to pinpoint exactly which topics are causing difficulty & to determine whether these issues reflect a fundamental mismatch with the course content or a weakness in prior knowledge that can be addressed. Switching courses can sometimes be the right choice, but it carries implications for university applications & subject combinations so it should be based on clear evidence rather than early-term concern. We provide families with a transparent, evidence-led recommendation.

My child is in Year 12 and their Internal Assessment topic is due. How does IB Scholars support the IA?

Dr Anil Khare: The Internal Assessment accounts for twenty percent of the final IB Mathematics grade & it is one of the most consistently under-prepared components of the course, not due to a lack of mathematical ability, but because the Exploration demands a combination of mathematical depth, genuine personal engagement, structured academic writing & precise use of notation, all of which students have rarely practiced together.
